Legal advice
Among its
departments, ATE has a legal department which is one of the most
important departments of the Association in terms of its functions.
Since its establishment through its legal department, ATE has
been providing to its members a range of legal services especially
in the field of labour.
Members have been positively utilizing and enjoying this service
through telephone calls, fax messages, short message services,
letters, emails and by appointments.
Through the department, the Association has been able to solve
many labour related problems for its members. In the members’
satisfaction survey which was conducted recently, members expressed
their positive satisfaction of legal services rendered by ATE.
However, members do not report labour simmering problems on time,
and as a result the parties end up in courts in matters which
could have been settled out of court. We urge our members that
whenever a labour problem is likely to due to some prevailing
circumstances, they should contact ATE as soon as possible for
early control measures. In so doing we shall be able to settle
many cases.
The functions of the department are not only limited in advising
members, we also represent members before courts of law whenever
they seek our assistance. Representation is normally done at discounted
fee unlike actual representation in the market. Representation
include in Conciliation Boards, Industrial Court, and in Civil
Courts.
Through the process ATE has been able to solve considerable number
of legal problems of its members and their employees. According
to our records, in one year the legal department is able to solve
about 25 cases.
