Employment law is a complex legal area, and companies of all sizes require specialist and practical legal advice and guidance on a wide range of Tanzanian Employment & labour Law issues. ATE, as an employer’s Organisation provide specialists advice on labour related matters, and monitor emerging issues in employment legislation and statue labour laws in Tanzania. ATE is part of the tripartite relationship between the government, employers, and union.

 

ATE’s legal team’s diverse expertise facilitates fully integrated advice on labour law and labour procedural issues. Our lawyers advise and practice on an extensive spectrum of labour law matters such as: industrial relations, redundancies, employment disputes, termination & dismissals, disciplinary hearings and employment contracts. We are experienced in representing clients before the Commission for Mediation and Arbitration, The High Court of Tanzania (Labour Division), the Court of Appeal of Tanzania.

 

Other member advisory services relate to work permit issues, review of employment handbooks & policy, and facilitate member training and updates on employment law.

Meet the legal team

 

Dr. Aggrey Mlimuka (Advocate)

Dr. Aggrey Mlimuka is the Executive Director and Senior Advocate with locus at the Court of Appeal of Tanzania, the High court and Subordinates courts. He is the most qualified labour and employment expert and trainer in the country. Dr. Mlimuka has vast knowledge in the legal profession including areas of International law, Administrative law, Employment law and other legal disciplines.

He is the Secretary General of the East Africa Employers’ Organizations (EAEO). He seats in different forums with the government representing employers and various Boards in the country. He is also a lecturer at the University of Dar es Salaam and worked with the International Labour Organization.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Suzanne Ndomba-Doran (Advocate)

Suzanne is an advocate with 12 years’ professional experience in employment and criminal law. As an experienced practitioner, Suzanne has advised a wide variety of clients across a number of sectors including Government ministries, transportation & logistic firms, financial institutions, non-government organisations, diplomatic/embassies, telecommunications firms, and hospitality.

For a number of years, Suzanne worked for the office of the Attorney General of Tanzania as a State Attorney with proven track record in prosecuting criminal and anti-poaching related cases.

As the Head of ATE’s legal Services, Suzanne leads a team with a range of experience in advising employers in employment and labour related matters. She is an adept adviser, negotiator and trainer in employment and labour matters.

Suzanne is a Commissioner at the Commission for Mediation and Arbitration (CMA). She is also a Ministerial Advisory Member at the National College of Tourism, a Non-Executive Director Tanzania Wildlife Management Authority (TAWA) and Commercial Bank of Africa (CBA Group).

Suzanne graduated from Bangalore University with a Bachelor of laws and holds Master of Laws from Mzumbe University.

 

 

Peter Ngowi (Advocate)

Peter has considerable experience in the area of employment law for over 6 years. Previously, Peter worked as an Arbitrator at the Commission for Mediation and Arbitration and developed a proven track record in mediating and arbitrating employment cases.

Adv. Ngowi is an expert in employment and labour matter including litigation, Chairing disciplinary hearings and other. Peter has locus before the Court of Appeal of Tanzania, High Court, and Subordinate Courts.

Peter holds a Bachelor of Laws from Mzumbe University and a Master’s degree in Taxation from the Univesirty of Dar es Salaam

 

 

 

 

 

 

Avitus Rugakingira (Advocate)

Avitus has a considerable experience in the area of employment law and taxation for over 3 years.

Avitus has an experience in representing employers and employees at the Commission for Mediation and Arbitration and High Court Labour Division with proven track record of prosecuting employment cases and advice on taxation.

Avitus holds a Master of Laws (Taxation) and Bachelor of Laws (LL. B) from the University of Dar es Salaam.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mercy-Grace Kisinza (Advocate)

Mercy-Grace has had considerable experience in Labour law. She is currently the Arusha Zonal Officer for the Association overseeing Arusha, Manyara, Kilimanjaro and Tanga. She appears before the High Court (Labour) Division, the Commission for Mediation and Arbitration. She lectures at Mount Meru University as a part time lecturer on legal subjects, inclusive of employment and labour law.

Mercy-Grace has also worked with private law firms and therefore overall, she has handled criminal matters, civil matters, family law, employment and Labour Law, company and corporate matters, immigration issues and probate and succession matters.

Mercy-Grace holds an LLB (Hons) from Uganda Christian University, Uganda and an LLM (Human Rights) from Cape Town University, South Africa.

 

 

 

 

 

Eric Stanslaus Swai (Advocate)

Eric is a young lawyer with experience in the area of employment law just been admitted to the Bar after being an intern with the Association for 2 years where he gained experience in Employment and labour matters and representation at the Commission for Mediation and Arbitration and the High Court Labour Division.

Eric holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL. B) from the University of Dar es Salaam.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Emmanuel Miage (Legal Officer)

Emmanuel is a young lawyer with experience in the area of employment law and other legal discipline, he is a legal officer waiting to be admitted to the Bar this year he has experience in filing cases, drafting and providing opinions to clients in labour matters,

He makes appearance before the Commission for Mediation and Arbitration and the High Court Labour Division.

Anchor Emmanuel holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from the University of Mzumbe.
