RE: AN EMPLOYER’S GUIDE ON MANAGING YOUR WORKPLACE DURING COVID-19 BY ATE & ILO
Following the outbreak of COVID-19, there has been a number of concerns by employers in Tanzania and around the World on managing workplace issues.
The Association of Tanzania Employers (ATE), as informed you earlier in our Circular, we have been receiving a number of concerns and enquiries with regard to employment and labour related matters such as preventive measures to take to protect their workforce; healthy and safety at workplace; retrenchment procedures and suspension of business; unpaid leave due to loss of business; employees’ entitlements in relation to leave and sick pay; teleworking; workers compensation and treatment of employees during this period.
The ILO Bureau for Employers’ Activities (ILO-ACTEMP) has prepared a guide for Employer Organisations around the World to be accustomed to national laws. ATE has accustomed the guide to suit the Employment and Labour Laws in Tanzania. It is a very useful guide that we encourage employers in Tanzania to use depending on the workplace circumstances.
