The Association of Tanzania Employers (ATE) on Monday 29th April 2019 officially launched the Employer of the Year Award 2019 to honor best employers for their excellent human resources practices aiming to uplift human capital and human resources to make them play their lead role in business performance.
Announcing the launch to a press conference ATE Executive Director Dr. Aggrey Mlimuka said that based on feedback we received from the Prime Minister’s Office, our members, stakeholders and experts, this year we are introducing three (3) new award criteria that will make a total of 38 Award from 35 we had last year so as to reflect the current business environment. The New added criteria are Best Employer in developing Internship Programme, Best Employer in developing Apprenticeship programme and Local Content Award.
“EYA participation continued to improve every year due to the fact that Employers have been sensitized to put people at the core of their businesses and practice uphold the importance of Human Resources practices at their workplaces” said Dr. Mlimuka
Dr. Mlimuka also informed that on this year ATE has developed EYA HRM Minimum Standards, a Self-assessment tool/Guideline on what a company needs to consider to have best practices in human resources management in order to improve production and become more competitive.
He clarified that EYA has two parts, the Survey part leading to winners which is currently handled by the Independent Consultant, TanzConsult led by Prof. Beatus Kundi and the second part is event management till the celebration climax which is scheduled for early December 2019 and the Chief Guest will be announced as time draw closer.
“Let me take this opportunity to ask all members to participate so as to benchmark their organizational practices and that of their counterparts.” said Dr. Mlimuka
